The Hand and the community

The Hand has been the venue for a large number of community events over the years and new owner, Mark Lewis, is committed to expanding its use by the community.

Wanting the Hand Stadium to become a community hub, he plans to open up the facilities during quieter times to voluntary groups and local organisations for free.

Mark said: "We want the Hand Stadium to be a facility that the community can use for sport and entertainment.

"We have already spent £150,000 on refurbishing and upgrading the facilities as admittedly they were looking somewhat tired.We envisage spending around another £100,000 to complete the refurbishment of the complex.

"We want the site to be available seven days and nights a week for the local community to enjoy.And we want them to come through the doors and be wowed at what we have to offer."
