The Hand
Stadium is becoming increasingly popular as a regional
sports centre for players of both sexes and all ages.
Since 1991, the Hand Stadium has been the home of Dr Martens
Western Division Clevedon Town. Two
years ago, local rivals Clevedon Utd moved to the Stadium
in a groundshare move that was to assist them in their goal
to obtain promotion to the Screwfix Western League.
Clevedon Town SWB Ladies FC are
also based at the Hand. The successful ladies club has three
teams, all of which are enjoying success in their relative
divisions. The Hand Stadium is also the centre for a blossoming
Youth football set-up that provides
football coaching for children of both sexes - from six to
sixteen. Clevedon Town recently became the first football
club in the county - at any level - to be granted the FA
Community Charter award.
But it's not just football at the Hand Stadium complex. The
Astroturf pitch is the venue
for several local mens and ladies hockey clubs, and is also
utilised
by a number of schools and colleges in the region.
